PRACTICE AREAS: Family and Juvenile Law, Criminal Defense, Personal Injury, and General Civil Litigation

LAUREN M. SPITZ joined Byrd & Associates in 2006.  Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Spitz served as a clerk to the Honorable Gilbert S. Merritt of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

Ms. Spitz received her undergraduate education at Haverford College, where she was awarded a Bachelor of Arts in History, with honors.  Ms. Spitz is also a graduate of Vanderbilt University Law School where, in 2005, she received a Doctor of Jurisprudence (J.D.).  During law school, Ms. Spitz was named to Dean’s List, received the Grace Wilson Sims Medal for Transnational Law, and served as an executive editor of the Vanderbilt Journal of Transnational Law.

Before attending law school, Ms. Spitz worked as an art gallery assistant at Arader Galleries of New York.  While attending law school, Ms. Spitz worked at the Nashville Pro Bono Program, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Tennessee, and the United States District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee.

Ms. Spitz is an active member of the American Bar Association and the Tennessee Bar Association.
