Divorces often involve an unusual amount of emotional stress.  At Byrd & Associates, our lawyers are committed to supportive and aggressive representation for our clients.  We handle each case with concern not only for the interest of our client but also for the bests interests of the children involved.  From our offices in Franklin, Tennessee, we handle divorces in the greater Nashville area, Brentwood, Murfreesboro, and all other surrounding counties.

Child Custody, Child and Spousal Support, and Visitation

One of the most sensitive areas of law involves child custodyissues, including but not limited to support and visitation. We advocate on behalf of clients who are considering divorce or whose spouses have already filed.  We also handle cases for clients who have never married but are involved indisputes over custody, paternity or child support obligations.

We draft Qualified Domestic Relations Orders, Permanent Parenting Plans, and use Tennessee state guidelines to determine child support obligations. We fight for our client's rights in achieving visitation or obtaining child support. We also advocate for spousal support when it is needed.

Family and Juvenile Law

We also handle a number of other issues concerning the family and children.  We handle adoptions, prenuptial agreements, reconciliations, and matter relating to juvenile delinquency.  We represent parents and children in cases of alleged abuse or neglect.  We fight to protect the rights of our clients in all family law related matters.

Alternatives available

Rule 31 certification as a family law and civil law mediator requires special training and approval by the Tennessee Supreme Court.  We have an attorney who has achieved this distinction.  We are highly qualified to provide mediation services in both family and civil law matters.  We encourage mediation when possible in order to reduce the emotional stress and financial burden that divorce may cause.  In some cases, it is not appropriate or effective.  In these instances, we are very capable of, and willing to, go to court on behalf of our clients.
